Our Journey

The Idea

We worked as a retailer of vintage clothing for 6 years in the UK, which allowed us to develop a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the ins and outs of the vintage clothing trade. After moving away from the UK and leaving the retail business behind, we saw an opportunity to utilise our previous experience to set up a wholesale operation here in Australia. Motivated by our dedication to sustainability, we envisioned a business model that would meet the needs of the future by supplying clothing from the past.

Rag King Vintage Wholesale started trading in June 2021. Our focus from the beginning has been to operate as a wholesaler with the mindset of a local business - our priority is supplying quality products and providing excellent client care, maintaining reliability, accessibility and convenience for our buyers.

The Process

The initial months of the business consisted of navigating through the challenges of multiple lockdowns whilst focusing on ways to grow our operations, and adapting to the dynamic needs of our buyers. Lockdowns and COVID restrictions were difficult for everyone, and we are so grateful to have come out the other side of it all!

Since starting, we have updated and broadened our supply chain, allowing us to carry a more diverse range of product categories in higher volumes. To accommodate for the increase in stock levels, we made upgrades to our warehouse space to improve storage capacity and grading areas, which also maximises the efficiency of our work processes.

The Present

We now operate with a small team of staff and are constantly exploring ways to grow the business. With more frequent container deliveries, we now carry more stock than ever before. We continue to sell our pre-made bundles here on the website, and now offer a variety of product categories in 45kg bales.
